A center for geriatric services “At Home” was opened in Vasieni village of Ialoveni district. Its goal is to integrate the elderly people into society. Twenty-two elderly people will live at the center that will also provide care services at home. It includes a social laundry service, a beauty salon and a training service intended for 100 people from Vasieni and the neighboring villages, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Government.
Prime Ministry Iurie Leanca, who took part in the opening of the center, said the elderly persons here will enjoy special care. “I want to tell you that there is no day when we do not think how to improve the social conditions, especially for the elderly ones,” he state.
The Premier noted that the Dutch citizens take care of the people not only from their country, but also from Moldova. “I hope the example given by the Dutch people will be followed by the rich people from Moldova,” he said.
The center’s executive director Felicia Cretu said that during five years she worked hard and hoped that this dream will come true. A shelter where the people will feel well and will help each other can be built in every village of the country.
The center was constructed with the help of the Charity and Social Assistance Association “At Home” with the support of the Netherlands’ Janivo, MaxTV Televsion and Mesenkinderen. The project was launched in 2009 and aims to improve the geriatric services based on the Western model, when the elderly people are not isolated from society and emphasis is put on social and medical activities.
