Forty families from Falesti district will move to social homes when the building is ready. The apartments will be distributed to young specialists from districts, including families with many children and persons with disabilities who do not have an own home and do not gave incomes to purchase one, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.

In a news conference held at the building site, Minister Vasile Batca said that an old two-story building is being reconstructed in Falesti. This has been non-functional for over five years. The project is implemented with support from the Council of Europe Development Bank. “The social homes are an opportunity for young families and a chance for better living for people with low incomes,” stated the minister.

The cost of the project implemented in Falesti is of about €970,000.

About 700 social dwellings will be constructed in eight districts of Moldova until 2018, within the second stage of the project financed by the Council of Europe Development Bank. The beneficiaries are selected at the local level by a commission that examines the relevant applications, checks the legality of the confirmatory documents and determines if the applicants meet the requirements.
