The Social-Democratic Party of Moldova is protesting for the third Saturday in a row in Chisinau's central square demanding better living conditions, in particular cheaper utility bills, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Party's leader Victor Selin announced that several tents would be installed in the course of the day to create a “protest camp”. Secretary Sergiu Coropceanu said an application has already been submitted to the City Hall, with the first tents expected to appear Saturday afternoon. “During two consecutive rallies we asked for social-economic benefits. We didn't ask for money, we just demanded that the government puts things right. We want them to undertake some rigorous inspections at all the public utilities, in particular Termocom, RED Union Fenosa and Apa-Canal. Today we are here to demand the resignation of the Government. This government cannot take care of the people's problems. Moreover, its decisions are directed against our people”, declared Victor Selin. He went on to add that his party gathered around 6,000 signatures for a class action against the Energy Regulatory Agency. “Judging by all the government's decisions, by how high utility rates have been set, we understood that it just wants a certain category of people to die. Now we even have to pay to see a doctor (IPN: a 20 lei fee for each visit has been recently proposed to be paid by the uninsured). People will just stay sick at home until they die because they simply don't have the money”, said Selin.
