The Social-Democratic Party promises to sue the Government if it fails to react to the demands of a protest rally planned on November 12 against the rise in tariffs and, consequently, in utility bills, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The party's leader Victor Selin told a Friday's news conference that he already hired a group of lawyers to handle the case. “The Constitution says that the Government must ensure a decent living for the citizens. This constitutional provision is violated by the raising of prices and tariffs. Also, the Regulations of the Energy Regulatory Agency provide that the Agency must act in the interest of the citizens, which is not true today”, said Victor Selin.
The participants in Saturday's rally will demand the liquidation of the Agency, lower tariffs and the removal of gas, water, electricity and heat supply monopolies.
“As a preliminary measure, we invite all the participants in the rally not to pay their utility bills for one month. They won't cut these services to all the people.
The Government does not understand that people make economies to pay for water, electricity, gas and heating supply. These services are vital utilities without which life would be impossible, yet the state authorities, the ANRE and the suppliers each year mercilessly raise the tariffs”, declared Victor Selin.
Besides Chisinau, protest rallies organized by the party are planned concomitantly in Balti, Soroca, Floresti, Anenii Noi, Comrat, Drochia, Cahul and Vulcanesti.
