The weather will get considerably colder and it will snow in some areas of Moldova, meteorologists warn. The State Hydrometeorological Service forecasts "temperatures below normal for this period and moderate precipitation in the form of sleet and snowfall during this week, IPN reports.

Temperatures will be cooler than normal for this time of year, and precipitation will be varied, with showers and isolated showers, sleet and snow. Winds will be moderate, with temporary intensification, and in places ice will accumulate, forecasters say.

The biggest weather changes are forecast for the north of the country. The SHS forecasts gusts of 20 kilometers per hour, ice on the roads, rain and light snow. The first days of the week (november 18-20) will bring highs of -3 - 5°C and lows of minus 3 degrees. There will be isolated showers during monday and tuesday, with sleet and light snow in the highlands on Tuesday night into Wednesday. In the second half of the week the weather will remain cold, with highs of 5-7 degrees and minus 1 at night. Showers will be more frequent, and in hilly areas, ice will accumulate.

In the center of the country it will be slightly warmer than in the north, but still below normal for the period, forecasters warn. In the first part of the week, highs will vary between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius and lows between -2 and -4. During the week, moderate precipitation in the form of rain will fall, and light snow could fall in higher areas on november 20 and 21. During the second half of the week, temperatures will remain between 6 and 8 degrees. On sunday it will rain lightly.

In southern Moldova, in the first part of the week, temperatures will be 6-8 degrees during the day and 0 -2 degrees at night. From tuesday the rains will begin, which will intensify on thursday and friday. Winds will be strong, at times up to 20 km/h. From saturday the nights will be colder in the south, with zero degrees in the thermometers, sleet and mixed precipitation.

With the worsening weather, motorists are advised to drive with caution, especially in areas where mixed precipitation and icy conditions are forecast. The authorities advise citizens to avoid traveling in bad weather.
