The pro-European parties that negotiate the formation of a pro-European majority should take example from Germany, where the governing coalition was formed by opponent parties, thanks to the fact that they discussed government priorities instead of sharing offices. The suggestion was made by Lilia Snegureac, secretary of the Civil Society Platform “Pro-Europa”, who participated alongside other civil society representatives in the debate “Society and the political class show a poor understanding of the public nature of negotiations on coalition formation: reasons, dangers, solutions”, organized by IPN in partnership with Radio Moldova.
Lilia Snegureac stressed that the post-electoral talks of German parties focused on the goals of the government and not on the distribution of positions. “Our best example is Germany, where the coalition consists of opponent parties. Our parties should focus on setting the priorities for the new government, like adopting the Law on the financing of political parties or revising the Constitution. This is what they should be talking about, not about what offices they will get”, explained the “Pro-Europa” secretary.
According to her, the participation of the opposition is necessary and a dialogue with it should be maintained in order to avoid a situation like a few years ago, when the Parliament couldn't elect the President. Snegureac also stressed that civil society could help in the implementation of a series of difficult reforms.
