A smart area equipped with energy-efficient technologies will be created in Ciocana district of the capital city. It will include a smart pedal station that will generate energy to charge the phones, IPN reports.
The smart area will be set up with a grant provided to implement the project “Development of infrastructure for the integration of the Smart City Concept on Mircea cel Bătrân Alley in Ciocana district”. The draft decision to accept the grant was approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council. The General Housing and Amenities Division is responsible for its implementation.
The head of the Division’s Planning and Environment Unit Vasile Efros said that in addition to the pedal station, a smart bench that produces electricity based on photovoltaic panels and a smart trash can with a volume of 100 liters, equipped with a waste compaction system, will also be installed.
The US$10,000 grant is offered by the National Center for Sustainable Energy.
