Slovakia takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, 2016, the Embassy of Slovakia in Chisinau has said, quoted by IPN.
The program of the Slovak EU presidency focuses on four main areas: a Europe with a powerful economy; common modern market; sustainable migration and asylum policy, and a Europe engaged globally. The Slovak presidency has a positive agenda and aims to promote sustainable solutions.
In a press release, the Embassy says that the Slovak EU presidency will concentrate on subjects joined by three principles that are connected between them. “Achieving concrete results. This is our objective aimed at showing to the EU citizens that the common European projects have a practical impact on the improvement of the quality of their lives. Overcoming fragmentation. We will make effort to obtain results that will contribute to a better connection between the member states on the common market. Concentrating on the people. The capacity to achieve concrete results and to overcome fragmentation is the key that will connect the Union and the people,” it is said in the press release.
According to the Embassy, the ambition of the Slovak EU presidency is to restore citizens’ confidence in the European project.
