The persons with visual impairments will be able to vote with a ‘sleeve envelope’. The Central Election Commission will provide all the poling places with such envelopes so that the visually-impaired persons could vote without the assistance of a third person, IPN reports, quoting the Commission.
The sleeve envelope is a perforated sheet made of thin plastic, specially designed to insert the ballot. The visually impaired can touch and identify the number of the chosen political party by counting the openings in the sleeve and then mark the ballot on the specially designated space.
A number of 1,977 polling places will be established for the June 14 local general elections.
