“Slaughter in Georgia” by Dumitru Crudu – a book that depicts the life of several Moldovan students in Georgia – was launched at a Cartier bookstore on March 12. The volume describes the disbandment of the Soviet Union and the first independent steps of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I’ve read this novel by Dumitru Crudu and realized it comes form our zone, from Moldova. It is a historical novel because that period of two decades is already history. At the same time, it is a history described by an author that witnessed it,” writer Vladimir Besleaga said. “This novel concentrates all the poetic force of Dumitru Crudu, all his force and experience of dramatist that has memory, intelligence, imagination and huge talent. It is phenomenal history book that surprises by the spirit of the epoch, a polemic, pamphlet book. But the pages with idiomatic expressions at the end surprised me most of all because they give the book a special tone and value,” Besleaga said. The book is available from the Cartier bookshops for 94 lei.
