A minibus carrying workers overturned this morning after colliding with an SUV on Balti-Chisinau road, near the village of Cucioaia in Telenesti district. Sixteen people were injured as a result.
A General Police Inspectorate spokesperson told IPN that the accident is believed to have been caused by a 63-year-old man driving a Mercedes ML, who performed an U-turn in the wrong place and without checking. During the maneuver, the minibus hit the SUV laterally.
As a result, 16 passengers aboard the minibus had to be taken to the district hospital.
Another serious crash occurred last night in Besalma, Gagauzia, when a 29-year-old lost control over his car and hit a tree. Both occupants, the driver and the front-seat passenger, died.
