The Parliament has appointed six judges to the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) on Friday, June 22, while the communist MPs refused to endorse one more candidate judge proposed by the Superior Council of Magistrates. The Parliament approved with the majority of votes the following judges: Ion Corolevschi, Svetlana Flincova, Nicolae Gordila, Mihail Macar, Ghenadie Nicolaev and Petru Ursache. At the same time, the candidacy of Diana Rotariuc was not approved by the communist MPs despite the fact that several opposition MPs labelled the refuse as an encroachment upon the judicial branch. The communist MPs argued their decision by the fact that Raisa Botezatu, deputy-president of the Supreme Court of Justice said that the promotion of Diana Rotariuc is premature. Rotaricu said that she has worked for many years in the judicial branch and as any human being she made mistakes, but never serious errors. During the same sitting, the Parliament dismissed the judge of the SCJ Nicon Cojocaru, following his notification of resignation.
