Six representatives of a political party are investigated in a case of electoral corruption. They are suspected of having provided money to voters to make them vote in a particular way in the October 20 election. Officers of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) raided a number of localities in Nisporeni and Strășeni on Friday, IPN reports.
According to the NAC, the money was passed on during meetings with citizens to persuade them to vote in favor of a party candidate running in the presidential election and to also vote “against” at the constitutional referendum.
The NAC officers are taking measures to determine the origin of the funds used in the crime and possible connections of the involved persons with members of organized criminal groups acting in the interests of political parties. The persons are to be escorted to the NAC to be questioned as suspects.
