Six pedestrians injured in traffic accidents

Six pedestrians, including three minors, were injured in six traffic accidents that occurred on Chisinau roads on Monday, April 14. Ion Roscovanu, Road Safety Inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police, has told Info-Prim Neo that the first accident occurred at around 8:00 in the intersection of Alba Iulia and Sucevita streets. A Renault car, driven by a 21-year-old man, struck a 10-year-old boy, who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. The boy suffered head trauma and brain concussion, being admitted to Valentin Ignatenco Hospital. A couple of hours later, a tenth-grade male student was hit on Grenoble Street by a BMW-520, driven by a 36-year-old man. The minor ended up with the bones of his left shank broken. A male student of the Technical University, driving a Skoda Octavia, struck a 48-old-man at around 13:00 in the intersection of Moscova Blvd and Miron Costin Street. The pedestrian suffered head trauma and brain concussion and was hospitalized at the Emergency Hospital. At 17:00, a 13-year-old boy was hit by a KIA car while jaywalking across Decebal Blvd on his way home from school. The schoolboy was hospitalized with his left shank fractured. Other 14 accidents in which no one was injured were also recorded on Monday. Road officers issued 328 tickets for traffic violations, among which 52 for speeding, 32 for driving on red, 16 for drink driving, 7 for driving unbuckled, and 129 for driving cars with tinted front windows.
