Six political parties that earlier signed cooperating agreements with the Civic Initiative for a Clean Parliament as part of the “Know Your Candidate” campaign now have the chance of cleaning their electoral lists, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Civic Initiative for a Clean Parliament offered the Democratic Party, the Social Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Liberal Party, the Moldova Noastra Alliance and the Centrist Union to exclude from their lists the candidates that do not meet the criteria of moral integrity, the Initiative says in a communiqué. The leaders of these parties have the possibility of challenging the information presented by the Civic Initiative for a Clean Parliament, providing arguments in support of their candidates. If the political parties accept to withdraw these candidates from their lists, the members of the Initiative will not make the given information public. The political parties that did not sign cooperation agreements with the Initiative will not be able to dispute the results of the monitoring of the lists of candidates for the post of MP until they are published. At the end of March, the Civic Initiative for a Clean Parliament will publish the list of candidates that do not meet the criteria. The list will be posted on the site www.moldovacurata.md and presented in the Initiative’s informative bulletin. The Civic Imitative for a Clean Parliament was founded by a group of civil society organizations of Moldova. For the first time in Moldova, its members monitor the lists of candidates running in the 2009 parliamentary elections, registered by the political parties at the Central Election Commission. They encourage the people with the right to vote to choose the upright candidates.
