The skills of children to be enrolled in football-focused classes were tested on Tuesday at George Calinescu Lyceum and Gaudeamus Lyceum, two of the six Chisinau schools to pilot the specialization classes during the upcoming academic year.
The project, which involves a minimum of 10 hours of football practice a week, is part of the municipality-sponsored “Football in Schools” Program.
The Mayor’s Office said in a press release that in the next few days, similar tests will be carried out in the other four schools involved in the pilot project, which are the lyceums Mihai Viteazul, Nicolae Iorga, Nikolai Gogol, and Liviu Deleanu.
Under the project, each school will have a football-specialized class with up to 26 pupils.
The “Football in Schools” Program is implemented by the municipality in partnership with the Moldovan Football Federation.
Also as part of the program, the football pitches of the six schools will be rehabilitated.
