Six Moldovan children that remained without parental care while in the Russian Federation were repatriated on May 22, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child.
The two girls and four boys are aged between two months and 16 years. In Moldova, they have been placed in residential childcare institutions, where they will benefit from rehabilitation services. Measures are being taken to reintegrate them with their families.
The children were repatriated by the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child in cooperation with the Moldovan Embassy in Moscow, the Placement and Rehabilitation Center for Children of Early Age and the Representative Office of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des Hommes” in Moldova.
The repatriation mission was carried out under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry, the Representative Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Moldova and the Swiss Foundation “Terre des Hommes” on October 25, 2007.
This is the third repatriation mission this year. Earlier, five children have been brought home from Russia and four from Ukraine.
Fourteen Moldovan children were repatriated from Russia and Ukraine in 2007 as part of five repatriation missions.
