Six children died in fires since year’s beginning

A woman aged 80, died on Monday in a fire broke because of chimney flaw. The head of the Operative Service of the Firemen and Rescuers Department, Sergiu Gubenco, said that the woman has died in her own house of the village Bravicea, Calarasi, stifled with gas and smoke. The death of Bravicea is the 105, in this year, caused by fires. Sergiu Gubenco noted that this year the number of fires and victims increased greatly. The main causes of fires are the violations of the norms of using the chimneys and heating apparatus, followed by smoking in bed, and children playing with fire etc. Thus, the number of fires broken this year get over with 34% the number of fires registered in the same period last year, and the number of victims – with 40%. In the first two months of last year any children has died in fires, and since the beginning of 2006 6 children have died in fires. In those 506 fires, registered last year, 105 persons have died.
