“There are no reasons for concern,” the central bank governor Dorin Dragutanu assured the bank managers of Moldova at a meeting that was attended by Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the executive's press service. The governor spoke about the developments on Moldova's currency market, saying the central bank analyzes attentively the latest evolutions of the leu. “The situation on the currency market should not worry the population as the depreciation of the leu is a normal phenomenon, a result of the steps taken by the National Bank to strengthen the foreign exchange reserves and of the seasonal purchases of currency by the importers,” the governor said, assuring the bank managers that there are no reasons for concern. The meeting participants also discussed the situation in the construction sector and in wine industry. Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc were also present at the meeting. Premier Vlad Filat reminded that many Moldovan people cannot come into possession of the apartments as the construction works have not been finished. The participants decided to create a working group that will examine the situation in the construction sector and will work out measures to help complete the construction works and revitalize the sector in general. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry was asked to analyze the situation in the winemaking sector, where economic entities' debts to banks amount to 1.3 billion lei, and to formulate a plan for restructuring the companies.
