The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) said the situation of the employee of the Ministry of the Interior Pavel Cimili, who was arrested by the Transnistrian militia, should be discussed as soon as possible. It demanded that this subject be included in the agenda of the first meeting of the JCC, but the Transnistrian delegation rejected this proposal, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué.
The Moldovan delegation said that by such acts the basic human rights and fundamental freedoms are being seriously violated and there is set a dangerous precedent as regards the detention by the Transnistrian militia of Moldovans who are natives of Transnistria. “Regretfully, the Transnistrian delegation refused categorically to initiate discussions on the given problem, arguing that the JCC does not have powers to examine issues of the kind,” reads the communiqué.
The young man was arrested on December 25, when he was going to visit his mother. The Transnistrian authorities explained that the man was to do his military service in Transnistria.
