The Security and Information Service (SIS) reported insecurity indexes in connection with the frequent involvement of foreigners from high risk areas in favoring the obtaining of invitations for entering Moldova and permits for staying in Moldova by directly corrupting employees of the competent institutions, IPN reports.
In a communique, the SIS reminds about two operations in corruption-related cases carried out in concert with the National Anticorruption Center, noting that direct preconditions are created for international extremist-terrorist entities to base themselves in Moldova. Therefore, the SIS calls on the people to inform about similar cases with a view to preventing terrorism risks and threats at regional and national levels.
As a result of searches on February 25, the brother of the honorific consul of Syria in Moldova was arrested on suspicion of traffic of influence. The honorific consul was questioned in the presence of his lawyer and an interpreter, but he refused to make statements. He was informed that he is suspected of complicity in traffic of influence.
The SIS said a citizen of Jordan was also arrested on suspicion of traffic of influence. He asked and received large sums of money for favoring the entrance and legal stay in Moldova of foreigners associated with channels for transporting radical elements from conflict regions to the European Community.
