The Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) noted that the so-called order instructing to check the Moldovan media for the publication of oppositional information, criticism of the current government or state bodies is false.

“The Security and Intelligence Service did not issue such an order. And the email address from which this false order was sent does not belong to the institution,” SIS spokeswoman Daniela Mânzatu told IPN.

The false order of October 16 instructs “to check the sources of media funding” and “to block mass media that have not been checked”. The so-called document, which was allegedly signed by the SIS director, was sent from an email address in which the accompanying message is signed by “the associate director of the Security and Intelligence Services Victor Hodoroja”.

The Security and Intelligence Service notes that the information is false and the purpose of such a message is to affect the image and credibility of the institution.

“We warn that the address from which the information was allegedly sent is not associated with the SIS, being invented to mislead and create confusion among journalists. In this connection, we condemn any attempts to denigrate and to involve the Service in disputes with political undertones. The SIS reaffirms its determination to maintain neutrality and equidistance in its daily work, being focused on fulfilling its missions, which exclusively concern national security, in strict compliance with the law,” said the Security and Intelligence Service.
