Within the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS), there is a group that illegally uses the posts and operational possibilities to discredit persons, said retired SIS colonel Alexei Serebryanski, former foreign espionage chief.
In a news conference hosted by IPN, Alexei Serebryanski presented a list of persons – Esaulenco, Gumeniuc, Racoviță, Cuzmin, Chumachenko, Pavliuc, and Ojog – who have been allegedly involved in the intimidation of politicians, public figures and foreign diplomats, instigation of interethnic hated by denigrating national minorities, illegal management of anonymous Telegram channels – so-called secret SIS operations to influence the electronic environment – revealing of secret information from the SIS, including the denigration of President Maia Sandu and the Party of Action and Solidarity in 2020 under the direction of Alexandru Esaulenco by order of Igor Dodon.
According to the retired SIS colonel, persons who were promoted at the times of Igor Dodon continue holding key posts at the SIS. These created an intricate criminal network that includes representatives of the Customs Service, the Border Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior and also journalists, politicians, representatives of civil society, opinion leaders, lawyers.
Alexei Serebryanski noted that this army of people is also used in unjust enrichment activities by using illegal schemes and ensuring the security of posts at the SIS. Today the group is coordinated by Igor Dodon’s adviser Artur Gumeniuc who, through the agency of his relative Sergiu Druță, current SIS deputy director, controls all the processes at the SIS and is the real manager of the institution. Gumeniuc, through the agency of his relatives from law enforcement agencies, takes part in smuggling.
According to him, this group of the SIS tried to discredit the former deputy director of the Security and Intelligence Service Alexandru Balan through anonymous Telegram channels and the TV channel TV8 as this started to disclose the crimes committed at the SIS.
For his part, Alexandru Balan called on the President, Parliament Speaker and prosecutor general to intervene and immediately stop the illegalities committed at the SIS, especially by “the criminal group that deals with the fabrication and dissemination of fake news through the media”.
