An contra-espionage inspector of the Information and Security Service (SIS) of Moldova is suspected of forging and introducing an important amount of banknotes. The inspector, together with other two accomplices, was arrested by the employees of the Organized Crime Fighting Department of the Operative Service Department of the Internal Affairs Ministry while trying to put into circulation 100,000 forged euros. According to the MAI Press Center, the arrest of the officer, Ruslan Iarovoi, aged 30, and his accomplices, Fiodor Sobcenco, aged 37 and Victor Nascu, aged 30, took place on July 11 in a bar, where the suspects tried to put into circulation 100,000 forged euros. The group led by the representative of the justice bodies was selling forged banknotes at a price equal to 23% of their nominal value. The investigation established that the group has already on its back many cases of introducing forged banknotes, especially in Chisinau municipality. When they were arrested, Ruslan Iarovoi was illegally carrying a “Makarov” handgun and 40 bullets. The same day at the house of Fiodor Sobcenco, policemen found 183 banknotes of 500 forged euros each. Now the suspects are arrested and investigated. If they are found guilty of forging and introducing forged money, they risk from 10 to 20 years imprisonment.
