The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service will perform a complex check of the centralized automated warning system on June 21. The sirens will be turned on all over the country at 2pm. The Service’s spokeswoman Diana Turcan has told IPN that such checks are carried out every year.
The centralized automated warning system is used to warn the population about possible radioactive and chemical accidents or natural disasters, while the checks are performed with the aim of verifying how it works.
The people are urged to keep clam when the sirens will wail. The institution managers and decision makers of the local public authorities are to ensure calmness and continuation of activities.
In Moldova there are 279 sirens, 125 of which are in Chisinau.
