The General Inspectorate for Emergencies informed that it will turn on the sirens of the centralized automated warning system on July 6 at 10am in solidarity with the victims of Stalinist deportations, IPN reports.

July 6 was declared a national mourning day. The national flags all over the country will be flown at half-mast and a moment’s silence will be observed at 10am.

According to the Association of Former Deportees and Political Detainees of Moldova, the number of deportees exceeds 94,700. Of these, 7,680 former detainees are yet alive in Moldova, by 450 fewer than last year. There were three large deportations waves - in June 1941, in July 1949 and in April 1951.
