A simple motion on the governmental policies, actions and inaction in the public health sector was presented by MPs of the Pro Moldova group, who said that the policies in this field failed and the mistakes made by the government and officials in charge continue to cost lives and hundreds of daily infections, IPN reports.

MP Ruxanda Glavan said in Parliament that over 2,000 of the more than 12,000 infections with COVID-19 confirmed in Moldova are in healthcare workers. The death toll now stands at over 430. This is an absolute world anti-record that is a direct indicator of bad management that costs lives.

According to her, the situation was created as a result of the inappropriate management of three decisional components, some of which are not even covered by law. The healthcare personnel continue to work without appropriate or complete protective equipment. Those infected haven’t yet received the promised allowance of 16,000 lei. The treatment protocols were approved with delay and weren’t periodically updated.

Ruxanda Glavan noted the National Public Health Agency continues to work illegally, in the absence of the mandatory health accreditation. The institution does not ensure the compulsory supervision of circulating infectious material and does not ensure the laboratory control over the collection of this material. It is not clear how many of those initially announced 100,000 test kits that were bought reached the country as the figure was later downed to 80,000.

“Statistics were modified. We have been lied to intentionally. Doctors who organized the testing of colleagues at accredited labs were punished and fired,” stated the MP, noting emergency measures should be taken to solve the problems and alleviate the consequences.

The motion says Parliament should ascertain the defective and non-professional management of the pandemic crisis caused by COVID-19 and a vote of no confidence should be given to the managers of the central public authorities responsible for the management of the crisis. Immediate action should be taken to separate the Ministry of Health from the Ministry of Labor and a doctor should be named as minister of health.

As a result of the presentation of the motion, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi said the simple motion will be examined by the legal division and a decision on this will be taken in the next meeting of the legislature’s Standing Bureau.
