The parliamentary groups of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” and the Party “Action and Solidarity” on February 13 submitted a simple motion against the policies and activity of the

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. According to the MPs, Moldova’s foreign policy during the past few years has been seriously affected by the political factor that departed from the natural path of European integration. The motion also refers to the recent statement about the Nistru war made by the minister of foreign affairs, IPN reports.

“Unfortunately, the Moldovan diplomatic service is hostage to these regrettable political processes that lead to the country’s isolation at bilateral, regional, European and international levels. The foreign policy is used as an ideologized instrument for compromising the strategic objectives to return to the values and democratic space of the European Union. All these regrettable departures happen because the country’s foreign policy is used to promote interests that are foreign to Moldova’s interests,” PPPDA MP Kiril Moțpan stated in the Parliament sitting.

He noted that all these developments take place amid flagrant violations of the constitutional provisions that clearly define the President’s powers concerning foreign policy. The President gives instructions and practically decides what foreign policy Moldova pursues or will pursue.

“Some of the statements and positions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are condemnable and are in contradiction with the history, realty and the Constitution of the state. The minister of foreign affairs made irresponsible statements about aspects of the domestic policy, concerning the Nistru conflict,” stated the MP, noting these statements should be condemned not only politically, but also criminally as hundreds of citizens died in this conflict and their memory should not be impacted by fully irresponsible statements or anti-constitutional policies or actions.

Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi said the simple motion will be transmitted to the Legal Division that will later present an opinion to the Standing Bureau.

Under the Parliament’s Regulations, a simple motion is debated when the Standing Bureau decides, within 14 workdays of the submission day.
