Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco kept her post. The simple motion against the policies pursued in the health sector proposed by the MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) wasn’t carried. Only six Communist and Socialist MPs voted in favor, IPN reports.
Minister Ala Nemerenco stated in Parliament that the motion is based only on tales taken out of context and was submitted when Moldova almost overcame the current pandemic wave, having the best situation in the region. She presented the Ministry’s accomplishments concerning vaccines, support for the medical staff and the fight against corruption in healthcare.
BCS MP Alla Darovannaia said the minister’s statements are controversial and disrespectful. The information about the number of vaccine doses that were destroyed because they expired wasn’t made public, while the vaccination process turned into a disaster. The health workers are dissatisfied with the way in which the pandemic is managed, with the absence of pay raises, etc. The motion was proposed because the Ministry of Health didn’t have an appropriate performance.
BCS MP Svetlana Căpățină noted the number of COVID-19 cases and of associated deaths rose considerably in the recent past. The frontline medical staff fighting COVID-19 shows courage and devotion, while the Ministry does not support them, these being stripped of bonuses to the salary. The 16,000 lei allowance is not paid if they hadn’t gotten vaccinated and 100,000 lei to the successors of doctors who died because of COVID -19 is not paid.
PAS MP Radu Marian praised the Ministry of Health for its work, saying that over 700,000 vaccine doses had been brought during the last three months, the number of performed tests was trebled and the digital COVID certificate was recognized by the EU, while his mate Adrian Băluțel thanked Ala Nemerenco for coming to Parliament and for speaking about the work done by the Ministry, encouraging her to further visit hospitals as many of the solutions are identified as a result of discussions with doctors.
The BCS MPs proposed the simple motion against the Ministry of Health’s policies on November 11, saying the situation in healthcare went out of control, the prices of drugs increased, there is not enough medical equipment, the daily number of COVID-19 cases rose to about 1,5000, while of associated deaths to 60.
