The current acting mayor Silvia Radu will run in the new local mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality and this is evident, said experts invited to the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Analyst Cornel Ciurea said that most probably Silvia Radu will announce her candidacy for the mayoralty of Chisinau. She will run as an independent candidate and will be supported by several political forces. “In this case, her managerial qualities will play an important role. Even the political contenders speak with respect about her. This means that her managerial skills are recognized to a certain extent. The only objection is to the political support,” stated Cornel Ciurea.
Politologist Boris Shapovalov said Silvia Radu will appear officially as a candidate in the new local elections in Chisinau towards the end of the deadline for the submission of documents to the Central Election Commission so that she could longer use the available administrative resources, unlike the other registered runners. “She can influence directly the subordinate bodies of the City Hall,” he stated. He added that if we look at the TV channels that promote now Silvia Radu, all the questions about the independence of the current acting mayor disappear.
The local mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality will take place on May 20.
