Acting mayor general of Chisinau municipality Silvia Radu welcomed Dorin Chirtoaca’s decision to resign. “Interim mayoralty should be short as the City Hall needs an administration that would ensure stability. To be efficient, stability is vital. I will fulfill my duties as acting mayor general until after the elections,” Silvia Radu wrote on a social networking site, IPN reports.
Suspended mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca announced his decision to vacate the seat in a news conference on February16. He said the decision was taken in protest at the abuses committed in the city and against him.
Dorin Chirtoaca also said that now that he announced his resignation, early mayoral elections in Chisinau will be held on May 20 this year and he is ready to run alongside Igor Dodon, Vlad Plahotniuc and anyone else.
