Acting mayor Silvia Radu on April 18 submitted the documents required for being registered as an electoral competitor in the May 20 mayoral elections to the Chisinau District Electoral Council, IPN reports.

Sivia Radu told the press that she collected over 13,000 signatures. She decided to run in the elections as she launched a series of important projects for the inhabitants of Chisinau and these should be completed. “I want to thank the residents of Chisinau for their support, for putting their signatures in my support. I hope these elections will enable to depoliticize the municipality of Chisinau that has been harassed during the last few years. I will give priority to the pressing problems of the inhabitants of Chisinau, not to political problems as others do,” stated Silvia Radu.

She added that after her registration application is accepted, she will vacate her seat and the municipality will be managed by one of the deputy mayors on an interim basis. Moreover, she will not accept the support of any party, noting she is an independent candidate.

The candidate of the National Liberal Party for the mayoralty of Chisinau Alexandra Can also submitted the necessary documents today.

The draw decided that Alexandra Can will be on the ballot under No. 8, the candidate of the Progressive Society Party Andrei Munteanu under No. 9, the representative of the People’s Party of Moldova Maxim Braila under No. 10, while Silvia Radu under No. 11.
