Independent candidate for mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu said in the current election campaign she tried to keep farther from politicians and be closer to the people. However, the campaign was rather ugly in terms of the behavior of her opponents, but she is confident that the voters will make a correct choice, IPN reports.

In a news conference on the last day of l campaigning, the candidate said she decided not to broadcast advertisements and not to place electoral posters. She chose to travel to communities to discuss the experienced problems with the people. She launched the campaign “Do something good for Chisinau” that involved both private individuals and legal entities. Thus, not posters with her picture, but concrete things done for the city will remain after the campaign.

The candidate noted that after she took part in the first electoral debate, she decided not to take part in other debates as she saw that the politicians do nothing but make shows and formulate populist promises. She decided to take part in discussions with people at the local level.

According to her, the campaign was not exactly an electoral competition, but rather an exercise within which she could learn more about the city. She identified places with serious problems that need to be immediately addressed. She compiled a list of priorities and a worked out a detailed plan of action that will be implemented when she wins the elections.

Silvia Radu also said that she was assisted by a team that consisted of six persons only, one of whom was her husband, and the costs for her election campaign totaled several hundred thousand lei, which represented funds of her family.

The candidate voiced confidence that the people will vote for her and for a change that is needed in the municipality. The City Hall should be free from politics and should belong to the people.
