Acting mayor general of Chisinau municipality Silvia Radu said that when she took up her duties she found corruption, bureaucracy and indifference at the City Hall. She developed the issue in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“What surprised me a lot was the level of these three categories. Everyone knew there was corruption and carelessness, but their level is simply beyond the normal perception of things,” stated Silvia Radu. According to her, ex-mayor Dorin Chirtoaca controlled the budget of the City Hall and used it for the benefit of the party he represents.
The acting mayor noted that now the municipality of Chisinau is in a deplorable state owing to the indifference of employees. “The people held the posts during tens of years got and were sure that they will not leave these soon and considered the state enterprises and institutions as their own,” stated Silvia Radu. According to her, there is no proper monitoring of the public property, correspondence and criminal cases involving the municipality at the City Hall.
Silvia Radu said that in her work she aimed to change the attitude of functionaries to the problems of the inhabitants of Chisinau. It is also important to ensure the functioning of the internal mechanism of the City Hall so that this does not depend on the person who is elected mayor. “These mechanisms should consist of new management systems, a simplified organogram of the City Hall and a functional one-stop shop,” she stated.
