Silence March in support of traditional family

Priests and parishioners of the Orthodox Church on May 12 took part in a Silence March mounted to support the traditional family where the children learn what love for the holy things and the respect for customs and traditions are and gain confidence for the future, IPN reports.

Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir, who headed the column, said Moldova and the whole Orthodox community have been tempted by the evil and some persons have thoughts that distance them from God. “I call on those who make God angry to return to him and to repent, leaving all the wicked thoughts and whims aside. They should live a life that is appropriate for the Orthodox Christians. It is sad that such ideas are cultivated in young people are supported by some of the lawmakers,” he stated.

Attending the event, President Igor Dodon said the traditional family, Orthodox religion, traditions and history are values on which Moldova’s statehood is based. Each year attempts are made to diminish these values, including by laws adopted in Parliament, which should be reviewed. As of May 15, the First Lady’s Charity Foundation “From the Heart” will offer by 4,000 lei to the fourth and each next child that will be born to a family. “We want to promote the traditional values. If these are destroyed, Moldova will not have a future. We should do our best to prevent these currents from destroying our national values,” stated President Dodon.

He reiterated that the Family Festival starts in Comrat on May 12. This will continue in Balti on May 13 and in Chisinau on May 15, when it is elevated thee International Day of Families. For the first time, Moldova will host the World Congress of Families, during September 14-16. This will involve representatives from dozens of countries and the Patriarch of Russia Kirill.

The participants in the march came together in front of the Ciuflea Monastery and marched up to the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in central Chisinau, saying prayers on the way.
