The initiative group for collecting signatures in support of candidate for President Octavian Țîcu filed the documents and subscription lists with signatures to the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.
“By now, we have collected about 20,000 signatures, 2,500 of which were gathered in Chisinau. I thank separately those from Chisinau who came to the tents and honored us with their signatures. We collected 700 to 1,200 signatures in 20 territorial-administrative units. In total, we collected signatures in 24 administrative units,” said Octavian Țîcu, who also went to the CEC.
“We ask the Central Election Commission to treat with respect this effort made by the team and the signatures they collected from the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the very difficult pandemic conditions in which the process took place. We hope a lot that we will be registered in the nearest future so that we could start the election campaign.”
The documents and subscription lists are to be verified during seven days. The CEC will then decide whether to register the candidate or not.
