The National Scientific Practical Center for Emergency Medicine of Chisinau announced 45 vacancies of doctors, doctor’s assistants and nurses. The Center’s head Gheorghe Ciobanu has told IPN that the entire emergency medical services system faces a shortage of staff, especially in rural areas. The young specialists choose to go abroad, where the salaries are higher.
“We meet the needs with the help of residents. We annually have 12-18 new residents, but it’s impossible to fill the vacancies in a short period of time,” stated Gheorghe Ciobanu.
The Ministry of Health made an order to reorganize the emergency sections in the reception units and departments. Those who are to become doctors will have to work in the given subdivisions too.
A doctor’s assistant of senior category at the National Scientific Practical Center for Emergency Medicine has a salary of about 5,000 lei a month, while a young specialist is paid approximately 2,000 lei. A doctor of the emergency service receives 5,000-6,000 lei, depending on the category.
