Short of solutions, some of candidates resort to acts of hooliganism, analyst

The forced entrance by candidate Marcel Darie into the office of acting mayor Nistor Grozavu was a show, considers political analyst Vitali Catana. “Some of the candidates who are short of solutions resort to shows. Marcel Darie does not have a public image and he has to make himself noticed somehow in the election campaign. Thus, he resorts to such acts,” the analyst stated for Info-Prim Neo. The candidate for mayor of Chisinau Marcel Darie broke into the office of deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu on May 20, accompanied by representatives of the press, and, accusing him of corruption, asked him to leave the City Hall. According to Vitali Catana, this campaign witnesses a number of candidates who lay emphasis on the show. “The shows can be successful in certain conditions, if they are made in accordance with the electoral technology. But Darie ignored this aspect. He is a rather poor actor. To my mind, it was a show that lacked a number of elements, including finality, which should make the voters remember it,” said Vitali Catana. The expert also said that the incident can be regarded as administrative offense, if Nistor Grozavu lodges a complaint. “I think Marcel Darie’s act is an act of hooliganism. The accusations of corruption made should be proven. If Grozavu considers that Marcel Darie’s statements prejudice his dignity, he can file a civil lawsuit,” said Vitali Catana. He also said that some of the candidates take the risk of being held administratively accountable and even of paying damages if they aim to obtain electoral results if. In case of Marcel Darie, the action would have been more effective if it had been better prepared. Vitalie Catana considers that Marcel Darie is a non-important candidate for mayor and his actions can be compared with the deeds of Igor Dodon, who does not take consistent actions even if he is an important candidate. The analyst said the best election campaigns are those of candidates Dorin Chirtoaca and Valentina Buliga. Nistor Grozavu said Marcel Darie showed lack of education and denied all the accusations made against him.
