As of August 1, 2019, the short numbers of the 13xx series will become available for use for public utility services provided by specialized contact centers. According to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, these are entities that provide such services as electric power, heat, gas, water and sewer networks and others, IPN reports.
The Agency said the decision to make such numbers available is designed to protect the users from getting too high bills for such services. The goal of the approved regulations is to stimulate the use of numbers of the 13xx series in the interest of end users by making short numbers that are easily memorized accessible at reasonable tariffs.
Now the business entities that provide such services use numbering resources from different series of geographic, non-geographic, mobile and other kinds of numbers and the given calls are charged similarly to the national calls. The given calls usually last long and the users are thus dissatisfied with the current charges.
This way, all the categories of users of telephone services accessible to the public will pay a charge of up to 0.15 lei/minute without VAT for a call to a business entity that provides such services.
