Short circuits blamed for three fires

Three out of four fires that broke out over the past 24 hours in Moldova had been caused by accidental short circuits. Liliana Puscasu, senior officer at the Fire & Rescue Dept., has told Info-Prim Neo that fortunately no casualties were reported, but owners suffered damages to property. So, a short circuit in the electric doorbell of a Chisinau apartment on Andrei Doga Street sparked a small fire which burned the door coating. The roof of a house in Chisinau’s suburban town of Durlesti burned down from the same cause. The fire was put out by a Buiucani crew and local rescuers. The owner of an oilseed press in Farladeni village, Causeni district, suffered considerable financial loss after a short circuit ignited the storage compartment of the facility. The fire fighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it destroyed the press. For reasons unknown, the roof of a house in Ciopleni village, Criuleni district, caught fire, causing damage to the content of a room. Fire experts are yet to establish the cause and estimate the damage. In the first 10 days of this month, there were recorded 31 fires across Moldova. The annual number of fires has risen so far to 627.
