Ilan Shor financed Igor Dodon’s campaign that preceded the 2011 mayoral elections in Chisinau. He informed about this in a news conference on March 19, expressing his indignation at the fact that Igor Dodon wrote on his blog and then said in a news conference that he possesses documents revealing serious violations committed at Banca Sociala, making it clear that Ilan Shor was behind them, IPN reports.
“We were very close in 2011. I helped you then, including financially, so that you could carry out your election campaign. We shared then the same ideas and had the same plans for the future. It happened at the beginning of your career. You even asked me to help you and I helped you,” Ilan Shor said, addressing the leader of the PSRM.
Shor reminded Igor Dodon that they together spent time enjoyably at his wedding party and at his birthday parties and now the leader of the PSRM publishes information that he admits he didn’t verify and tries to make Shor’s presence in Moldova difficult.
“Mister Dodon’s actions in this respect surprise me. Being an MP and even a member of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the situation on the financial and currency market, which hasn’t yet completed its duties, it is at least unserious for him to write on his blog and then to make statements and present documents, confirming that he cannot prove their authenticity. Such acts can be classed as attempt to influence the investigation and to manipulate the public opinion,” said the businessman.
Ilan Shor also said that the situation at Banca de Economii worsened also because of the statements of the Socialist leader as many of this bank’s clients were urged to withdraw their money.
