Representatives of Shor Party, which until recently was named “Ravnopravie” (“Equality of Rights”), presented the new emblem and new program of the party that will start to be implemented after the October 30 elections, in which it is represented by candidate Inna Popenko. The goal of the announced program is to improve the socioeconomic and political situation in the country and to build a social welfare state in Moldova, IPN reports.
Marina Tauber, a member of the political council of Shor Party, told a news conference that the extended social guarantees for people, which are based on complete social solidarity, sustainable economy and the decisive role of the state in the areas that address the interests of large sections of the population, are the key element of a social welfare state.
“For us, the people are the major value and sense. We suggest new principled approaches to a series of issues, including the mandatory social guarantees. Each person, regardless of their possibilities, must unconditionally enjoy free medical assistance (for pensioners starting with the first months of the coming to power and in two years for the rest of the people), free education and a network of professional-technical schools for training young specialists, which will be created,” stated Marina Tauber. She added that Shor Party promises to increase the maternal capital on the birth of each next child, social stores for pensioners and lower tariffs for public utilities.
Marina Tauber noted that such activities as gaming and sale of tobacco and alcohol will be controlled by state monopoly. The state will be able to direct and use the considerable financial flows in public interests. The new program also envisions the transfer of the large energy companies back under state control.
“We will impose restrictions and even bans on the import of goods that are produced or can be manufactured in Moldova. If need be, we wil review the conditions of participation in the World Trade Organization. By large-scale public procurement procedures, we will annually buy agrifood products from our farmers. We will restore the system of consumption cooperatives and will use elements of planned and market economy,” stated the member of the political council of Shor Party.
She also said that the financial resources will be obtained by reallocating the state funds, for example, by reducing the spending on the army. A system of progressive taxation will be introduced, based on the model of the Scandinavian countries – the larger the revenues are, the higher the tax is.
