The Shor Party on March 21 presented its candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality. This is the deputy mayor of Orhei town Reghina Apostolova, ex-head of Riscani district of Chisinau and ex-municipal councilor, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, the party’s leader Ilan Shor, mayor of Orhei, said the new elections are actually nothing but waste of money because the mayor is elected for one year only, while the composition of the Chisinau Municipal Council is not changed. The mayoral elections and the Chisinau Council elections should be held simultaneously. Even so, the Shor Party could not remain outside the electoral process.
Shor noted that Reghina Apostolova showed professionalism in the posts held in Chisinau. As deputy mayor of Orhei, she implemented extraordinary projects and her biography consists only of positive facts. Thus, she has the qualities needed to swiftly improve things in the capital city too.
Asked why he does not run personally, Ilan Shor said he will not leave the post of mayor of Orhei as he hasn’t yet delivered on all the promises made to the locals.
Reghina Apostolova said she is honored to run in the mayoral elections in Chisinau and is convinced that together with the team of the Shor Party, she will manage to do nice things in the capital city, similarly to those done in Orhei. The problems faced in Chisinau do not differ much from those that exist in Orhei because the people here also want better roads, playgrounds, recreational areas, decent salaries and these things can be ensured in a short period of time. The City Hall is not an arena for public debates. It is a center for developing economic and social projects.
Shore Party deputy head Marina Tauber said that until now the mayors in Chisinau were elected according to political and geopolitical criteria, not due to their skills and experience. Their team knows how to work and will work concertedly to show that changes can be made. The things done in Orhei show that something similar can be done in Chisinau too.
The representatives of the Shor Party said the party will present its candidates for the new elections elsewhere, including Balti municipality, on another day.
