Shevchuk decrees Moldovan policeman's release from prison

Transnistrian leader Yevgeni Shevchuk signed a decree to release police officer Alexandru Ursu who has been detained for 3 years in Tiraspol, Reintegration Bureau head George Balan has told Info-Prim Neo. In his “pardon” decree, Shevchuk said the release comes after numerous petitions from Ursu's family, the UN Human Rights Representative and Transnistrian human rights NGOs. The decree becomes effective today, November 5. Alexandru Ursu was sentenced by the unrecognized authorities to 15 years in prison on charges of falsifying documents to buy an apartment in Bender, from which he was subsequently evicted.
