Sheriff beat Petrocub 2-0 in the derby match of the ninth stage of the National Division. Both of the goals were scored in the second half of the game. The newly signed Uzbek striker Yaxshiboyev gave a decisive pass to Castaneda in the 71st minute and increased the advantage five minutes later, IPN reports.
“We had personnel-related problems in this match. Mihai Platica was suspended, while Jardan and Sandu were sidelined by injury. The players who came from the national team weren’t in best form,” said the coach of Petrocub Lilian Popescu.
Petrocub is two points behind the leading Milsami, which drew with FC Bălți 1-1. In the next round, Petrocub and Milsami will duel in Hîncești on September 17. Sheriff climbed to the fourth spot in the rankings, but played by three matches fewer than Milsami and Petrocub. In another two matches of the ninth stage, Sfîntul Gheorghe lost to Dinamo-Auto 0-1, while FC Florești was beaten by Zimbru 1-3.
