Sheriff Tiraspol tied at home with the Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala in the 2013-2014 UEFA Europa League groups. The Moldovan team scored thus its first point, IPN reports.

The captain of Moldova’s national football team Alexandru Epureanu, who plays for the Russian team, was sidelined by a knee injury in the 22nd minute.

The first big chance to score appeared in the 25 minute, but Anzhi Makhachkala missed it. Sheriff was close to scoring in the 37th minute, but Ricardinho prevented the ball from entering the goal with his head. The scoring chances weren’t taken in the second half either.

In the other match of the group, Tottenham England beat Tromsø Norway 3-0.

Sheriff will play the next Europa League encounter against Tromsø in Norway on October 3. Anzhi Makachkala will meet Tottenham.
