Sheriff needed overtime to eliminate Victoria from Moldova’s Football Cup. The normal period of the game between the National Division leader and the Division A leader ended by 1-1, IPN reports.
Josip Brezovec opened the score in the 14th minute, but Victoria tied three minutes before the final through the top scorer of Dacia Gennady Orbu. In overtime, Balima and Badibanga scored for Sheriff, which won by 3-1.
“We should have decided the fate of the game in the first half. We will have what to discuss with the players,” Sheriff coach Roberto Bordin told a news conference.
In the quarterfinals, Sheriff plays Milsami. The other encounters will be between Dinamo-Auto and Dacia, Zaria and Zimbru and Petrocub and Speranta.
