Sheriff Tiraspol was defeated on Thursday, August 23, by French Olympique Marseille, at a score of 1-2, during the first round of European League play-offs, reports Info-Prim Neo. Moldova’s champion team showed a good first half to the audience of over 10,000 people. However, the guests were the first to score, in the 18th minute, through Ghanaian midfielder Andre Ayew. The Tiraspol team tied the score almost immediately, through the goal scored by Serbian Tomislav Pajovic. In the second half, the French team scored through Ayew once again. Although the players trained by Mihai Stoichita put all their efforts to save the game, Marseille managed to secure its advantage and is now a clear favorite in qualifying to the Europa League groups. The away game is scheduled for August 30, in France.
