Sheriff Tiraspol lost the first leg of the third preliminary round of the Champions League. The Black’n’Yellows were defeated 0-1 by the Croats of Dinamo Zagreb, Info-Prim Neo reports. The only goal of the game was scored by Fatos Beqiraj on 15 minutes. Despite creating several chances as the final whistle neared, Sheriff failed to score and to boost its chances of qualification. “We played well, especially in the second half, but failed to find the net. I have faith in our chances, but we must perform very well in the away game”, Sheriff coach Milan Milanovic stated after the match. “I’m happy we scored and didn’t concede. I think we have enough experience to qualify for the next round”, said the guests’ coach Ante Cacic. The second leg is scheduled in a week in Zagreb. Two years ago, Sheriff and Dinamo met in the third preliminary round of the Champions League. The Tiraspol side won on penalties.
