Sheriff have made it to the Europa League third qualifying round after the Tiraspol-based team prevailed over General Tirana on 2-1 aggregate, IPN reports.
The second leg hosted by Tiraspol ended with a 1-1 draw, with the guests being in the lead for more than half an hour. The qualifying goal for Sheriff was scored by defender N'Diaye on the 63rd minute.
In the next round, Sheriff will meet Swedish champions AIK. “We will face a much tougher opponent. We’ll have to address the mistakes we made especially in the first half of the match with Partizani,” Sheriff manager Zoran Zekic told reporters at the post-game press conference.
Sheriff Tiraspol played four times in the Europa League groups.
